Optimize Your Marketing (Optimize) was my marketing agency that I started back in 2022. The primary leading indicator of growth for the agency was sales qualified leads (SQLs) which we deemed as leads that took a sales call with us. In order to obtain a high volume of SQLs we utilized cold outreach in the form of email and LinkedIn direct messaging.

More about our approach
When I started Optimize, we had no clients. The only way to grow was to get in front of our ICP as cheaply, and effectively as possible. At the time, cold email was how we did this.
Utilizing an effective outreach strategy, we were able to drive 10s of SQLs monthly which is how we obtained a $15k MRR within 6 months of launching this strategy.
Here was our simple, yet effective process:
Develop Our ICP & Find a List using lead scraping tools
Craft a unique message & offer that could be responded to with a yes, no, or maybe
Launch the email campaigns utilizing secondary domains & warmed up emails so we don't get marked as spam
Email marketing is nothing new, but utilizing practices that helped us land in the inbox, not get marked as spam, and most importantly could be responded to simply with 1 word is what worked best for us.
To add on to this process… we would run dynamic LinkedIn messaging campaigns to get in front of these prospects on another channel - we found this increased response rates by nearly 25%.
This process still works in 2025 - yet so many people complain that it doesn't work - and to that comment, I would say it's because you are working with inexperienced, lower level specialists who are also only silo-ed and working on 1 platform (email) and not utilizing a multi-prong setup (email+LinkedIn).
